Remote Terminal — Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 16, 2026
Overview
Remote Terminal connects your mobile device to a desktop computer you control so you can run a remote shell, optionally transfer files, and optionally share clipboard text when you enable it. To provide this service, the desktop agent, mobile app, and our servers at terminal.billten.com process session and connection data. We do not sell your personal information or use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the apps.
Data We Collect
Information processed may include: session and pairing data (session IDs, tokens, host name, operating system, device display name); terminal commands and output while a session is active; files you upload or download through the file manager; clipboard text only if you turn on clipboard sharing on the phone; join passwords you set on the desktop (verified by our servers—we do not store your plain-text join password in logs); and technical server logs (such as timestamps, IP addresses, and errors). Quit passwords, if you enable them, are stored only on your desktop PC and are not sent to our servers. We do not require a separate account (email or username) with us to use the core product.
Local Storage
Data is also stored on your devices. On the desktop: agent settings, session credentials, optional join and quit passwords, command activity log, and optional clipboard entries shown in the dashboard. On your phone: saved sessions and tokens, a capped terminal transcript, preferences (including clipboard and file-browser state), and files you download to your device. You control this local data and can remove it by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
Third-Party Services
Remote Terminal is not fully offline. The apps connect to our service at terminal.billten.com to pair devices and relay session traffic between your phone and desktop while a session is active. We use infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting, database, and cache services) to operate that service. The apps use standard platform libraries (for example Electron on desktop and Capacitor on mobile); those run on your device and are not used by us for unrelated advertising or tracking. If you use a developer build pointed at a different server, that operator’s practices apply to data sent there.
Data Security
We use measures appropriate for a remote-access tool, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/WSS) to our service, join-password protection for pairing, and local encryption for sensitive desktop secrets when your operating system supports it. No system is perfectly secure. Use a strong join password, keep devices updated, and only pair with computers you trust. Anyone with your join password or access to an unlocked paired phone may control your desktop session.
Data Deletion
You can disconnect sessions from the mobile app or desktop, change or remove the join password in desktop Settings, turn off clipboard sharing, and uninstall the desktop agent or mobile app to stop new collection from that device. Server-side session data is kept only while sessions are active and for a limited period afterward for security and operations. Desktop quit passwords and most local settings are removed when you uninstall the agent or clear its data. On the phone, remove saved sessions or uninstall the app to delete local session data and transcripts.
